Hotel Information
The NE qualifiers have had very good experiences with the Marriott
Boston Cambridge.
Marriott Boston Cambridge
617-494-6600.
It is (I think) 5 or so miles from
Harvard. It's a 1 minute walk
from the T station (just cross the street), which is a 5-10 minute T
ride to Harvard Square, and from there it's a 10 minute walk to the
pool. The hotel restaurant is open from 6:30am to 10:30pm. The rooms
have 2 double beds or a King with a Queen sofabed - it depends on
availability when you check in. The rooms are $179/night ($170 with AAA
discount), and the parking is $20/night for regular parking or
$25/night for valet parking. All Marriotts are completely nonsmoking
and have a hotel pool. There is room service, but it may not start
early enough for those swimming the first session of the day.
Cancellations must happen prior to 6pm the night of arrival.
Note that the Harvard Square stop is still
a 10-minute walk from the pool. Parking is very difficult to find at
Harvard. So you can also consider a cab to the Harvard pool if you
don't want your swimmer walking too much before their session.
If that Marriott is full, here are 2 other hotels nearby:
Courtyard by Marriott Boston Brookline
1-617-734-1393.
They're 2 miles from Harvard. They do not
have a shuttle to Harvard. They have a pool and a restaurant. No room
service. They offer rooms with 1 King or 2 Double beds. I forgot to ask
their cancellation policy - it differs from Marriott to Marriott (some
require 3 days notice). The Marriott price is comparable to DoubleTree,
and parking is extra but I don't know how much that is.
DoubleTree Guest Suites Boston
617-783-0090.
They're 1/2 mile from Harvard. Their free
shuttle to Harvard runs from 9am to 9pm (not compatible with all swim
sessions). They have a pool and a restaurant. Their rooms contain 2
twins or 1 king, with a queen sofabed, and an optional rollaway can be
ordered. Again, bed-configuration is dependent on availability when you
check in. They do not have rooms with 2 double
beds. It's $189 for a room and $20 for parking, per night. You must
request nonsmoking. They have a 24-hour cancellation policy.
